MINI Announces NY Show Lineup, Teases Classic Model With EV Logo [493 Images]

Among the debuts are the John Cooper Works GP Concept, which was presented in front of the European audience last year in Frankfurt.

The sporty study features a lot of visual updates over the Hatch, including a specific body kit, racing seats with five-point harness, roll cage and others that underline its ambitions.

Joining the show car in New York will be the Countryman and Clubman, along with the brand’s first PHEV, the MINI Cooper S E Countryman. The latter combines a 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor to deliver 221hp and 284lb-ft (385Nm) of torque. It’s capable of achieving an electric range of up to 13 miles (21 km).

The facelifted MINI Hatch, Hatch 4-Door and Convertible will parade their refreshed styling during the automotive event, after debuting at the beginning of the year in Detroit. They will be sold as 2019MY, with several engine options and get the Piano Black exterior finish as a factory option, for the first time.

What’s with that classic MINI teaser?

Last, but definitely not least, the BMW-owned brand has revealed a classic Mini in a teaser video that announces their presence at the event. The Cooper comes with a white roof, racing stripes and rally lights at the front, reminding of the company’s old rally cars.

Look closer and you will see the green badge on the hood, so we could be looking at the teaser for the zero-emission vehicle that’s said to arrive next year. Either way, with just a little over 24 hours left until the NY Auto Show starts, we won’t have to wait that long to find out what it is.
