Full details of the new Land Rover Defender and now available here.

The wait is nearly over and the official launch of Land Rover’s new Defender for the 21st century at the Frankfurt Motor Show is here.

You will be able to see the reveal of the car below or by clicking on this live link from 8:50am.

The new Defender made a dramatic entrance into the Frankfurt Motor Show, driven from the roof of the Jaguar Land Rover stand down a steeply inclined off-road ramp driven by professional mountaineer Kenton Cool.

Much is riding on the new Defender which replaces the original iconic, boxy and massively popular Land Rover which went into production 71 years ago in 1948.

Land Rover announced in late April that new generation of its rugged Defender 4X4 will be built abroad – in Slovakia rather than Britain.

The shock confirmation to build what is considered an ‘iconic’ British car abroad will be seen by many as a bitter blow for the UK – but the firm insisted that Brexit ‘had not played a role in the decision’.

Land Rover’s attempts to keep its long-awaited new Defender under wraps until the official unveiling have taken another blow following leaked images of the 4×4 by a South African magazine over the weekend.

The shots reveal the styling of the new Defender 90 three-door model and Defender 110 five-door in what look like official photos from the British car maker.

Land Rover’s long-teased 4×4 is shown to blend a mix of retro Defender design with styling cues from the firm’s existing range of cars, including the Discovery, Range Rover and Range Rover Evoque.

The 2020 Defender isn’t due to be unveiled until tomorrow morning as part of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
